Temasek River Regatta 2007

Ready for the race
Sorry for not updating for so long. So, here comes a new update.
I shot photos for Temasek River Regatta on Friday (20th Apr)- a week before new semester began. I got a chance to use Canon 10-22 wide angle lens which school borrowed. The lens can cover many things in front of the camera (it's field of view is so wide) and its sharpness and colour production are superb. I like this lens. But it is quite expensive ($1000 plus). Also got a chance to use Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens. It was my very first time using a super zoom L lens. Lens was quite heavy. :)

The Regatta was separated into two sessions - the morning and the afternoon sessions. Boy and Girls teams from secondary schools competed one another in the morning. The races started at about 9am. I walked along the bank of the Bedok Reservoir and shoot group photos of the participating teams.

Then at about noon, I went to the sport complex to cover the telematches between five different schools of TP - Engineering, Business, Design, Applied Science and Information Technology. Freshmen from each school come in groups and each school wore different colours. Within half an hour, the stands in front of the football field was filled with students who were shouting cheers. The scene was like colourful sea of people when looked from far way. Then, selected students played first match. I ran to the soccer pitch where the game took place to shoot them playing in action. It was very interesting and emotional shooting those groups of winning students who jumped high in the air, waving their school flags and screaming with happiness.

After that, at about 4pm, they all proceeded to the Bedok Reservoir for the dragon boat races. There was cheer leading competition between the races. Lighting there makes me difficult to shoot photos because the background was very bright and people were backlit. So, some of my performance photos turned out a bit dark. Then, the events ended at about 6:30 pm.
The weather was so hot that day. I returned home at 11pm and I felt very tired and hot when I reached home.
But I have gained a good experience shooting photos!! :)

Dancing with me

Dance with me

It is the time when the music started. People inside the hall enjoy jumping and dancing according to the lively beats of music. Forget the time, hide your sadness for a while. The time, slowly, melts away and you could feel like you are dancing with the light.

FOW : Freshmen Orientation Workshop

FOW

2nd day of FOW. An Empire learning TP Song from orientation leaders.

Today, i shot from 9am to 8pm. Following students playing station games opposite school under the hot afternoon sun. A bit tired...

Relived my memories of last year workshop, when I was a freshman. That time, I had been here for about 3 weeks and everything was new and interesting for me such as cheer songs, station games, etc. And had some difficulties to be familiar with Singlish.

This week will be a busy week. I'll be shooting Freshmen Orientation Workshop as well as Freshmen Orientation Camp.
