Firefox 3 Download Day - 17 June

Mozilla Firefox (abbreviated officially as Fx, but also commonly as FF), is a web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite, managed by the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox had 18.41% of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of May 2008, making it the second-most popular browser in current use worldwide, after Internet Explorer.

There are a number of features that enhance my web-surfing experience:

Quick Search - which allows me to search and highlight a phrase in the web-page
Easy to change pop-up blocker setting which after changing settings the page is not refreshed
Restore Session - In the event of PC crash, or force end-process of Firefox from Task Manager, the next time when I start, it can open all the tabs that I have opened benefiting me of saving time from going through the history to find the pages that I opened.
And many useful add-ons such as Zotero which saves and create citations for my research work online, dictionary which automatically check the spelling as I type in text-fields, PicLens which provides new, cool way to view pictures/YouTube videos and many more...

Now, Firefox 3 is going to be out in one day time. It provide enhance fixes to bugs, improved UI, redesigned Download Manager, and so on. The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008, named the 'Download Day 2008'. Firefox will be aiming to set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours. People can make pledges that say that they will download Firefox 3 at spreadfirefox.com. As of June 16th, 2008, over 1,344,464 people have pledged to download Firefox 3.
Be part of Guiness World Record for most software downloads in 24 hours by visiting www.spreadfirefox.com and download version 3 (link to download will be available on that site) on the download day. :)

Random Photo Collection

My laptop's hard disk almost full. Today deleted away some photos and uninstalled some softwares. And back up in DVDs. But still only around 4GB left. Time to get an external hard disk next time. While looking through the photos taken in past five months, I found some photos that I took but haven't posted on the blog. Since they were shot at different days at different locations and subjects, they are just random collection. I realized that I haven't shot much photos these few months. It's time to shoot more photos during this term break!

Meanwhile, the followings are the random collection of photos that were taken from Jan to May 2008.

Director's List Award Ceremony

The ceremony was held on 31st May (last Saturday) at Audi 1. I got the award for my Junior year (last year)

Unlike last year which was held in LT, this time it was held in Audi and more students also. Since my mom was working half-day, my dad accompanied me. Dip IT Silver Medalist and LKY award recipient, Lup Peng shared his experiences of going OCP trip and wining First in Microsoft Office Skills competition. Then our IIT school director, Ms. Lim Sok Keow, awarded the certificate to all students. After that me, Lokman and Ryan met with our C133's new careperson- Ms Ann.

Then have group photo taken and refreshments. Took some photos with some(some cannot find, i think they went home) of my fellow Senior students also. But the group photo and me taking the award is not with me. I will upload them once I get. Meanwhile, the followings are some photos that we took on that day. :)

Term Break and PSP

Today is the official beginning of 2-week term break. Although there will be no lectures or practical classes during this period, it is not really a relaxing period for some students as they still need to do projects and assignments which will be due in a few weeks time when school reopen. Still remembered those days, I came back to school and did assignments in Year 1 and 2 during holidays. For me, I don't have any assignment submission. But there are many things that I need to do.

During this term break,I will be PSP-ing. You may be wondering whether I bought a new PSP. Here, PSP does not refer to Play Station Portable. PSP is short form which stands for

Programming
Soccer/sports
Photography

Haha.

Regarding to first item on the above list, it is the biggest item and I will be spending most of my time doing programming and school related work for competitions such as MOS(Microsoft Office Skills) Singapore Round, studying for banking test. Will be going school for trainings and meetings.

The second item, soccer refers to Euro 2008 which begins today. 16 teams will be competing and once in every 4-year event. But one of the bad thing is that most of the matches will be played in the wee hours of the morning, (i.e.) at around 3am. So, most probably I will not be watching live matches. May be delayed telecasts or highlights. And also most important thing is that NAFA test is coming in less than one month time. That means I need to start intensive training for it.

Last but not least, photography is my interest but these days haven't shot much. I will be shooting more photos and joining VC events.

Let me end my post by sharing some photographs of Team Mamagaia. Thanks everyone who votes for our team for People's Choice Award. Keep your votes coming in until the awards ceremony on the 26th June. :) Go green for the sustainability our mother Earth!

Unsuccessful jumping shot. Slow shutter speed. After shooting this photo, we all were laughing for some time as I jumped high in a weired posture. May be Lokman released the shutter release button at perfect time when I jumped highest. Photo credits: Alicia and Lokman.

I would like to thank all my friends and blog readers who support for my team in many ways by voting for People Choice Award, morale support and so on. :) I am putting my best effort in preparation for the finals. Voting still continues until 29th May.

On the other side, Year 3 workload is quite manageable. Taking Banking and Manufacturing & Logistics Business Infomatics as my electives and Using Internet as Research Tool as my CDS. UIR is interesting, need to blog and reflect about each lessons. You can visit my UIR blog here.

I also took some photos also. But not much.

The following is the my new series of photos taken using my Nokia 5610 XpressMusic's camera. These are some random shots in my project lab room. I shot after doing programming two days before semi-finals of Imagine Cup, looked around the room to find the subjects to shoot and also as a means of testing my phone's camera.
