My Walk Around Sports Complex

First time shooting a series, according to a theme.

I got this idea of shooting the objects inside and around TP sports complex after I played around and took some shots during TPSU OTC Day 1. Some shots were taken using my 400D and some I went to Sport Complex again last Saturday and shot using my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S700.

Feel free to look at photos and provide any comments. :)

Computer Series coming up in a few-weeks time.

Also available on my Picasa Web Albums.

My Holga's First Roll Results

I went to Triple D at Burlington Square last Saturday after I travelled to Bukit Batok to collect my spoiled Epson All in One printer. It was sent to the service center near Commonwealth on 28th Dec. Then they were relocating their service center to an industry park at Bukit Batok. So, I needed to travel very far. I took 506 Express to go there and walked about 30 mins to locate the service center. Then, when I reached the place, I needed to wait for about 4o mins to check the status of inspecting my printer. They said that my printer's head spoiled and need to replace with new one. The price of labour fees also quite expensive. So, I called my dad and he decided not to repair and to buy new one. So, I brought back that heavy machine back and walked to Buki Panjang Interchange to take 61 to go to Triple D. 61 travelled very long distance. That was my boring and tiresome Saturday.

On Sunday afternoon, I went back to Triple D to collect my developed photos. I told Uncle Mike to scan them on the CD as it is cheaper than printing all. It cost $13 to develop and scan 12 shots of my Agfa Optima 100 Expired film. As soon as I got the CD, I walked outside the shop and quickly opened the CD casing and looked at index prints on the cover page to see the results. As the index prints were quite small, I could see the full effects of Holga, Just notice that, the photo of Singapore Old Supreme Court is quite interesting. When I reached home, I downloaded them onto my laptop and reviewed one photo after another. Overall, I am happy with the results although some of my double-exposed shots didn't come out noticeable. Two shots were also gone : one due to my overturning of the film dial and another due to an unknown reason. So, here is the resulting 10 shots: (My favorite is Justice , I simply like the colour as well as the composition)

So, I named my Project as Project 104. Although, I have started the project for two weeks, I only uploaded my photos on the forum. I will also upload the photos here on my blog. So, I will start uploading Week 1 (5,6 Jan) photos.

Algomaina* Runner-up

After the BSIT lecture on Wednesday (9 Jan 2008), our team "Codebrakers" which consists of Jeremy, Hanafi and me, was presented our runner-up prizes by Dr. Eng. Actually, the competition was held on 14th of December. But, after the competition, thinking that we did not win any prizes, we returned home without waiting for the prize awarding ceremony at 6pm. As a result, we didn't know that we won second prize until we received an email from NUS informing us to collect our prizes.

We received a certificate of distinction, a certificate of participation and a Sony Cybershot digital camera. This is my first time wining a prize in a competition for IIT schoool. Thanks Mr. Lawrence for providing his guidance as a coach for this competition.

New Year at Marina Bay Countdown

First of all, wishing everyone a very Happy New Year. May all your wishes and dreams come true and enjoy life with friends and loved ones. Sorry for late post.

On New Year Eve evening at around 7pm, gather at Raffles Place MRT station for shooting fireworks. This was my very first time shooting fireworks for new year. We all proceeded to Lau Pa Sat for dinner. I brought my 400D and tripod for shooting fireworks and my dad's point and shoot photo/video camera to record video.

We all went to an big open area opposite NTUC Building to get the nice photos of Fireworks and Singapore skyline. We reached there at about 8pm. Some people already camped and reserved the best spots already. We walked to a place near the fence at waterfront, positioned our tripods and put our cameras ready for shooting fireworks. Need to stand there and wait for about 4 hours there while chit-chatting and listening to some jokes from Serena and Keiwee. Suan Yang walked around the Esplanade area to shoot for Eye in the City photo competition. Dickson was also taking photos of people using his L-lenses for Marina Bay Competition.

The wind was very strong at sometimes there.

As the clock ticking near to the 12 hour mark, the crowd became bigger and they squeezed near to the front, some aiming cameras to the skyline and all anticipating the start of the fireworks and beginning of the new year.

I couldn't remember the exact time when the first firework came out. I guess it may be around 12 midnight. As soons as I saw the first lights and sound of the fireworks, I started clicking the shutter release button to take photos. Took lots of pictures continuously during the show. Thanks Deb for helping me take video of the fireworks! The duration of the firework show was about 8 minutes.

Now it's the time for sharing a video that I edited.
